SolaX launches AEGIS all-in-one off-grid storage systems with integrated thermal protection

The AEGIS systems combine SolaX OG off-grid inverter, a 16 kWh LD160 battery and a battery management system in one cabinet. SolaX says the integrated design reduces on-site wiring, while coordinated temperature monitoring provides an additional layer of system protection.

SolaX Power has launched the AEGIS series, a new all-in-one energy storage system for off-grid homes and properties affected by unreliable electricity supply.

SolaX plans to introduce the product in Asia and Africa from August through its local distributors and installer networks.

The launch comes as residential and small commercial users in parts of both regions continue to contend with weak grids, frequent outages and limited access to reliable electricity. Petrol and diesel generators remain widely used, particularly in remote homes, farms and island communities. At the same time, lower solar and battery costs are making storage-based systems a more practical option for users seeking to reduce generator dependence and take greater control of their electricity supply.

Fewer components, less wiring

According to SolaX, the inverter and battery do not require a separate on-site power cable or external switch between them. This reduces the number of components installers need to mount and connect, with the aim of shortening installation time and limiting wiring errors.

Cable entry is available from either side of the cabinet, while integrated wheels are intended to make the unit easier to position on site.

This could be particularly relevant in remote markets, where installation teams may have to travel long distances and where reducing time on site can have a direct effect on project costs.

Temperature monitoring linked to inverter and BMS protection

SolaX is also placing greater emphasis on thermal safety.

Temperature sensors continuously monitor the system for abnormal heat conditions. If an anomaly is detected, the protection logic in the inverter and BMS responds rapidly to limit or shut down operation. The system then continues to monitor the temperature and operating condition.

Multi-Layer Safety Response

If the abnormal condition persists or escalates, the integrated aerosol fire-suppression system can be activated. The aim is to contain the event and reduce the risk of damage to the unit and surrounding property.

The wider safety package includes continuous battery monitoring, early-warning functions, an integrated circuit breaker and a pressure-relief channel.

SolaX's product material describes the safety architecture as coordinated protection across the inverter, battery and BMS, supported by integrated aerosol fire suppression.

Up to 200% Off-Grid Output Capability

The range comprises two models. The AEG0616 provides 6 kW of output, while the AEG0816 delivers 8 kW. Both are paired with 16 kWh of battery storage.

SolaX specifies a backup transfer time of 4 milliseconds. In EPS mode, the systems can deliver up to 200% of rated output for five seconds, allowing them to handle the start-up current of equipment such as air conditioners, refrigerators, pumps and motors.

Up to three systems can be connected in parallel. A three-unit installation using the 8 kW model would provide a combined output of 24 kW and 48 kWh of storage.

The systems also include a dedicated generator connection and smart load management. Generator operation can be coordinated with battery state of charge and load demand, while non-essential loads can be reduced or disconnected to preserve stored energy for priority equipment.

"In many markets, households need one system to manage solar generation, battery storage, essential loads and generator backup," said Jerry Cui, regional sales director at SolaX Power. "AEGIS was designed to bring those functions together while keeping installation and day-to-day operation as simple as possible."
